Continuing Care
On completion of the 28 day programme at the centre, the resident with their spouse or partner are referred to a continuing care group. This is a weekly support group facilitated by trained facilitators and is run in 14 locations in Tralee, Galway City, Ballinasloe, Limerick and Ennis. For single people, we have singles groups running in Ennis and Limerick.
We believe that the 28 day programme is only the first step on the road to recovery and the next two years are the vital stages in maintaining sobriety. Continuing care is vital for people in recovery and their family members. Recovery occurs gradually and requires a lot of support and encouragement during these early stages.
At weekly continuing care meetings people are encouraged to discuss their recovery and share issues and problems that are arising from them. They get encouragement and support from other people in the group who are also in recovery and from the facilitators, many of whom have experience of addiction in their own lives.
All clients and family members are encouraged to attend fellowship meetings to support the recovery process in addition to continuing care meetings.
We in Bushypark train and supervise our own facilitators. Workshops and training sessions are provided for ongoing learning and development of the facilitators. There is a dedicated continuing care co-ordinator who assesses each facilitator and supports them in undertaking this work on our behalf.
A continuing care support group for cocaine/other drugs users is held each week for individuals wanting help and additional support coping and living a productive and drug-free life. This weekly support group is facilitated by a counsellor and is sponsored by Bushypark under the MWRDTF Cocaine Initiative. Interested persons can phone Ellen at 065-6840944.
