Cycle – May 2012


Fundraising Target – €15,000

The Bushypark fundraising cycle will take place on Saturday 5th May 2012 (May Bank Holiday Weekend) in the Burren area of North Clare. This is being run in conjunction with Burren Cycling Club with support from Dolmen Cycling Club, Clare Crusaders Cycling Club and other groups.

The fundraising cycle offers participants the choice of  15k, 50K or a 100k route. The 15k route is around Lisdoonvarna and suitable for families. The road will be marked for the event around the beautiful area of the Burren – See a Google map of the 50km route and the 100km route. The distances will commence and finish at the Town Hall, Pavillion Theatre in Lisdoonvarna and the race commences at 10.30am

To enter the Cycle you can register and pay online by clicking the registration page or alternatively download and print a registration form either in PDF format or as a printable image. The entry fee is €30 payable in advance.

When you enter the Bushypark cycle you will receive:

  • An entrance Number (to be supplied on the day)
  • Refreshments during and after the cycle
  • Support and backup vehicles

Notice to Cyclists

We are obliged to notify all participants of the following:-

  1. Helmets are compulsory for everyone entering and taking part in the cycle event
  2. All bicycles must be roadworthy
  3. Fitness levels must be appropriate to the event
  4. Adequate refreshments should be carried
  5. Basic tools (spare tubes, tyre levers, pump etc.) should be carried
  6. Adherence to rules of the road and laws covering littering, public decency etc
  7. Under 18’s must have their entry forms signed by a parent or guardian

How to find us

From Limerick

Leaving limerick city follow signs for Galway, Shannon or Ennis. After approx 25km takes the Ennistymon/ Cliffs of Moher/Ennis Exit off dual carriageway. Follow the signs through to the third roundabout (clare abbey). Take the second exit towards Kilrush/Ennistymon. Continue to the Claureen Road roundabout. Take first exit onto the N68. Continue for 1.5km until you reach the Texaco Garage/Oliver Walsh Motors. Turn left at the side of the garage, you will see signpost for BushyPark House. Follow this road for 2km keeping to the left at fork on road. Continue 500metres and see gates of house in front of you on a bend. Please use second gate as entrance to the house.

From Galway

Follow N18 from Galway until you reach a dual carriageway, take the first left exit 500 metres after you get on this new road, signposted for Barefield/Ennis. Follow signs when you come off this road for Ennis. Go through the Ballymaley Roundabout (small roundabout). When coming into Ennis town proceed until you reach a roundabout, (there is a statoil garage and McDonalds on the right at this roundabout). Take first right exit, following signs for Shannon/Limerick. At next roundabout take the third exit, signposted for Ennistymon/Lahinch. Go straight through the next roundabout (Claureen Road) and continue for1.5km until you reach a Texaco Garage. Turn left at the side of the garage, you will see signpost for BushyPark House. Follow this road for 2km keeping to the left at fork on road. Continue 500metres and see gates of house in front of you on a bend. Please use second gate as entrance to the house.
