Relapse
While treatment in Bushypark is generally successful, staying sober is not easy and requires constant commitment. While in treatment we highlight and discuss each clients relapse triggers and assist them to develop a plan to overcome these deterrents to ongoing sobriety.
However, if relapse happens we are here to help. The client comes back to Bushypark to meet with their addiction counsellor and our continuing care co-ordinator. They are put on a recovery programme which is a structured 6 week programme, facilitated by trained facilitators. These groups run weekly in Limerick and Ennis.
The relapse programme focuses on identifying and recognising the factors leading to relapse, addressing the issues and learning new ways of coping with these without the use of mood altering substances.
We do not view relapse as a failure but rather as another step on the road to recovery. Every support is given by the client’s addiction counsellor, continuing care co-ordinator and by the facilitators to get back on track and to deal with issues preventing client from achieving sobriety.
Once the 8 week recovery programme is complete the client is placed back in their continuing care group and they continue to gain support from the continuing care progamme.
